Following is an interview I conducted with Gleason Ayers, 94, on Sept. 5, 2011, just days after he was evacuated from his flooded home on Randall Street in Waterbury, Vt. Ayers survived both the 1927 floods and 2011 flood, two of Vermont's greatest disasters. He fulfilled his wish to have Thanksgiving held in his home in November 2011. He died two days later.
